Montreal Comic Con 2011

BEST CON YET!!

Friday:

Okay, yes, so even though it was only a two day con, all of us got together the day before. I went to Comic Con with Nekoyasha23, CosplayCanada, and Foreverflame.

I met up with Foreverflame and Nekoyasha23 around 2 and we headed over to Value Village after we got all of my stuff loaded into the car. I was able to get a wig for my Halloween cosplay, and a wig for a co-worker for the commission for a Halloween costume. I was also able to get fake piercings so that I can use them for characters that have piercings where I don't have them (like Godai – since I used wire at Otakuthon for his lip rings… damn they hurt!).

After Value Village we headed to Nekoyasha23 because she forgot her Axel wig Kinda necessary since she was going to be Axel the next day. After that, we headed to Foreverflame's and they started to fix up the Trelawney skirt for Sunday while I touched up my Roxas wig a little bit.

Around 7pm though we left from Foreverflame's and headed back to the Wooler exit at 401 to pick up CosplayCanada. Ah such lols we had while standing and talking with him and his mom xD At least, I think it was his mom. I don't rightly remember. I dunno. But it was fun.

Once back to Foreverflame's, they continued to work on Trelawney's skirt while I talked with CosplayCanada. Again, too funny xD The things he comes out with make me lol so hard XD

We went to bed finally around… 11pm? I think. Nekoyasha23 and I were placed in the bed, Foreverflame took the floor near her immense manga collection (hey, she told Nekoyasha and I to take her bed), and CosplayCanada slept on the floor closer to the door. Even though he was given blankets to put under himself, he put one blanket on top, and used the rest to prop up his head under the pillow.

Saturday:

FIRST DAY OF THE CON~! Woke up at about 5:15am @_@ Well, for me, that's sleeping in considering that when I go to work I get up at 4:15 to be at work for 5:30. We got into the clothes we were to wear under our cosplays and got our makeup done. I helped Nekoyasha23 with her makeup to hide acne and scarring, and to create a smoother tone for Axel. I used a talc powder for lightening on her to bring down the redness in her cheeks. She didn't want that. It was fun ^^ Eyeliner she did herself. She just needed some help with evening out her skin – I struggle with my own sometimes.

We did Kingdom Hearts for Saturday. And OMG we were so popular/loved! I think we were one of the few groups that actually had props of some sort.

We were out of Foreverflame's house by about 6. We were on our way! We didn't put our coats on until we were at the con. We arrived precisely at 11. The time that the con opened. We had the convenience of pre-registration. So we had the green wristbands. Luckily, they were fine for taking a shower. We met up with Alexis-Rider who was wearing my Agito/Akito wig as I had forgotten it at her apartment at Otakuthon. So she asked me if she could wear it to try out her new contacts. She was kind of annoyed because we didn't tell her that we were doing Kingdom Hearts on Saturday, so she could have been Saïx or Demyx with us. Although I don't think she would have been able to bring the Claymore. That thing is huge! 6 feet tall!

I was so freaking excited about several things! Not only was it my first comic con (so my first non-anime con… though it did have anime), but I was able to meet so many guests! More than I thought I would! I had the great pleasure of meeting KellyJane and SirFlamboyantWreck! OMG I was so excited. I was very happy to meet them. The group was able to hang out with them for a fair bit since CosplayCanada is their unofficial bodyguard xD I got autographs from them. The one that Kelly wrote me says "To Gabrielle, I know how to spell your name! " and of course she signed it xD Jen's made me laugh. "To Gabrielle! Don't stop cosplaying! You're not insane! You're just a little unsane." And signed it of course xD I am so going to frame the photos and put them up on my wall when I get the chance. I may have to get custom frames… I'll check out Michael's. They were very flattered/surprised when I told them that if it hadn't been for them making their chakrams and sitar for Axel and Demyx, I probably wouldn't have made my keyblades. They also signed my Oblivion keyblade. It's been hanging on my wall for two and a half years now, but now I've flipped it the other way so that their autographs face towards the room and not the wall.

I have to laugh though, when I was following Jen and Kelly to their table (not to be a stalker, to talk with them and have fun), Jen was bent down at one point, and when she stood up, she almost knocked over Stan Lee It was kinda funny xD Ya gotta laugh, he was very good humoured about it so it wasn't too bad. I think he understood that it was an accident.

Before we split up into two groups, I went with Alexis-Rider, and the others stayed together, we went to go meet Vic Mignogna. OMG I was so happy to meet him!! He's so awesome and fun! He's as big of a dork as his fans xD I love seeing that in voice actors. Although, from the ones that I've met (Quinton Flynn, Brad Swaile & Vic Mignogna), they seem to fall into being dorks/geeks/nerds like the people who love them. Maybe it's a prerequisite xD If so, then anyone who wants to become a voice actor is good to go if they're like that! Anyway… Nekoyasha23 and I both paid for autograph & photo. Foreverflame got only an autograph. But, I have perhaps the best fangirl memory ever! When he asked me what my name was, and I told him it was Gabrielle, he had me lean forward and he said "I want to tell you something Gabrielle… my parents told me that if I had been born a girl, they would have named me Gabrielle." And when it came to the picture, I told him that I didn't know how he was going to top Brad Swaile signing my heart at Con-G. Vic found a way X33 When he came around the table, he enveloped me in a hug. And he counted down and had me face the camera. Guess what he did… HE KISSED ME!!!!!! OMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFG!!!!!!! I WAS SO HAPPY!!!

I got to spend some time hanging out with Alexis-Rider. We haven't spent much time together just the two of us in a long time. I love the fact that we were able to talk just the two of us. Since we haven't lived in the same city in three years, it's been kinda hard to hang out. And usually when I go to montréal, I'm there to see my boyfriend Dave (yes, he lives with her). It was just the two of us after a few hours. Around the time of the masquerade was going on. Yes, I said I was going to enter, but I got side-tracked and I was having too much fun walking around with my friends. So I skipped it. I'll do a masquerade that I'm more prepared for – like Con-G and Otakuthon.

We met up with CosplayCanada, Foreverflame, and Nekoyasha23 again after a while. I was so excited about the day, and we went back to see KellyJane & SirFlamboyantWreck. Seeing them was so awesome!

We went to see Vic's concert at 6! Sadly, Alexis-Rider had to leave so she missed out on seeing the concert But I got some photos and I was so happy! And I got to see FullMetal Fantasy. Vic looks kinda funny as Ed Elric xD

Later on after the concert and we had a rest in our hotel room for a little bit, we went back out before it go too dark out and got pictures. I got some really awesome ones of CosplayCanada and Nekoyasha23. I got some neat ones of Foreverflame, but there weren't a lot of appropriate places for Vexen. Others, yes.

But after the shoot we did, I got so mad at my memory card for my camera >_< All of the pictures that I had taken during the day, GONE!!! My memory card either formatted itself, or it started to have the Kingdom Hearts photos write over all of the others. So the picture of my kiss with Vic… GONE!!! I'm so sad

Sunday:

Got up pretty early… about 5:30 in the morning – and we didn't even plan it. Yeah. We woke up one after the other and were able to watch the sunrise. It was such a unique experience. Although I must say, the orange sun kinda blinded us when it flooded into the room. Today was the day of our easy cosplays. Harry Potter!

We spent a lot of time with KellyJane and SirFlamboyantWreck again XD Got to see them in their Left 4 Dead 2 cosplays! And we went to their panel, walked around the dealer's room with them! Oh man was it fun! CosplayCanada gave them a present – a jar of Nutella xD I got it on video for him with his camera XD

Before hanging out with them though we found Vic Mignogna on his own away from his handlers and security. We explained to him what happened with the photo from the day before, and so I had another time of him kissing me on the cheek. He looked upset about the photo being erased. He loves his fans, I have a feeling that he'll do most anything for him – but I'm sure that he has his limits. Everyone does. This time, it was on two cameras as a photo, and Nekoyasha23 took a video of it. I didn't have quite the same expression on my face, but I was still very happy about it! How could I not be happy? I was being kissed by Vic Mignogna!!!

I also got to meet Doug Bradley of Hellraiser fame. He is better known as Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies. He was so nice and he gave me a hug ^^ I was really excited about that! I love the Hellraiser movies, so being able to hug one of my favourite actors was like a dream come true! I was also able to meet Jeremy Bullock, who also gave me a hug. He played Boba Fett, for anyone who hasn't seen episodes IV, V, & VI of Star Wars. I addressed him as Mr. Bullock, which is also how I addressed Mr. Bradley. I have so much respect for them as actors, and they are two of my favourites, so addressing them as otherwise would seem inappropriate.

We went back to see Vic at his table. Nekoyasha23  and I got more hugs from him ^^ Foreverflame decided that she would get a picture with him this time since we had photos with him as well. While waiting to see Vic though, I went over to get Michael Dorn's autograph for my dad. He was so nice, and he was very flattered because I told him that he's one of my dad's favourite actors and he absolutely loves Star Trek, and thinks that he did an awesome job in it!

I'd write more for Sunday, but I think we spent most of it with Kelly and Jenn.

We went up to Alexis-Rider, NoahWolfrin, & my boyfriend's apartment for the night! It was so nice of them to let us stay with them for the night ^^ The GPS took us a different route from what Marx takes to go from Old Montréal, a longer way. We almost gave up, but we got to it eventually. I of course slept with Dave, Nekoyasha23 and Foreverflame slept on the air mattress in Alexis-Rider & NoahWolfrin's room, and CosplayCanada slept in the living room on top of a sort of large cushion with his sleeping bag and pillow.

Monday:

I woke up at 6am when Dave's alarm went off. He had to go to work, so he was out of the apartment and on his way to work by 6:15. Before he left I gave him a goodbye kiss. But I forgot to tell him to make it a great day, so I sent him a text ^^ Since I couldn't get back to sleep, and I could hear the other girls talking I went and joined them and had a good ol' chat. CosplayCanada woke up around 8:30. We wanted to sneak over though and stare at him till he woke up. But he was already awake when we headed over to where he was >_< Oh well, it was still funny xD

We were out of the apartment by 9:05, and out on the road. We said goodbye to NoahWolfrin as she was the only one still there after we left. We took a very different route to get back home. Foreverflame's GPS took us down to Oka, and unfortunately for her, she had to get on a boat. Luckily, Nekoyasha23 had taken a lot of videos at the con so she played them for her while we were on the ferry. It calmed her down and took her mind off of it. And we sang along to "Soldier A" by Vic Mignogna xD
