The con was epic. I am quite pleased with how everything went. Well, most things.

Saturday:

Me, Nekoyasha23, and Foreverflame got up at around 5:30, and started to get ready to head out. We got our wigs and makeup done. My makeup took roughly half an hour to do as I had to paint any skin that would be visible. We were being Even, Vexen, and Anti-Vexen. Of course, I was Anti-Vexen because I love my AntiForms.

Shortly after we arrived to the con, we got our badges, and we slowly gained a stalker. A Vexen stalker. Oh boy that was fun. We ended up hanging around her all day. She was originally in a blue dress and a blond wig, then she switched to being Marluxia. And of course we continuously joked around with the Superior. All must bow to the Superior.

I was so pleased that due to how small the convention is, I was easily able to find my friend DeadKoiBunny. She cosplayed as Simca. She was such an awesome Simca. Perfect in my opinion. She brought some of her friends with her that had never been to a con before, or had never cosplayed. She brought convention/cosplay virgins. I remember my first con… good times. But now that I’ve been to more cons, they’ve been awesome times.

The dealer’s room was quite small, but that’s okay considering that the convention was inside The Holiday Inn Guelph. It had a decent variety and a bit of an artist’s alley. I love the variety there, same kind of variety as Anime North, just on a smaller scale. I was impressed. And this time I actually sat in on a panel (okay, I got there late), How To Survive a Con. Also, I sat in on some events. Watched some DDR, and a couple other things.

We made some new friends as well, and gained a stalker. Our stalker stalked us because we were the different versions of Vexen. But it was awesome to be able to meet nanakiff7. She’s so cute X3 I gave her, Marluxia, and Axel styrofoam hearts as a sign of friendship. I brought a package of them from home and only gave out three, but I couldn’t be bothered to carry them around with me on Sunday.

I was rather happy to be able to talk to the twins that do Agito and Akito every year as their normal selves. It was so cool getting to know what they’re like outside of cosplay in their normal lives. They’re still in school, which surprised me actually. Don’t know why but it did. Their being able to play musical instruments was fascinating. And their finishing one another’s sentences… scared me a little bit. Because I grew up knowing twins, and they never did that. But maybe if you’re identical twins it works. I figured out how to tell them apart though when they’re together. One is slightly taller, and the other has thinner eyes. I guess growing up with twins, it makes it so you can tell one from the other.

We had our private photoshoot with LiquidCocaine-Photos. I loved her enthusiasm for getting a shot. It was awesome. I will admit, she had a hard time photographing me because I was so dark. So a lot of the shots had to be redone. Anti-Forms aren’t easy to shoot unless there’s a helluva lot of sunlight. Or if you’re using a very bright flash. But even then, the camera doesn’t always want to focus on you.

One thing that I was very pleased with about my Saturday was that I finally got to meet Brad Swaile. Of course, I just had to meet him with my face painted black. Lovely. He was a bit taken aback by that, but he found it neat that I put that much dedication to my cosplays. I had said to him that I didn’t have anything for him to sign, but then said “Oh, wait, wait…” and I reached into my hood, pulled out my stress ball in the shape of a heart and said, “Will you sign my heart?” And he did. He looked dubious about it, but I told him that I’d love for him to sign it. And he did. I’ll provide a picture of me as Roxas with the heart.

Masquerade:

We weren’t too happy with our masquerade experience. It bothered us. The time in the green room was okay as we got to see some truly awesome cosplays. But the actual walk-on… disaster. I don’t think Foreverflame and Nekoyasha23 will ever want to do another masquerade because of how this one went.

Not only did the MC, Ricky Dick, not say our intro properly, which really we didn’t mind as we didn’t expect it to be perfect. But our real issue was being cut off. We walked on stage when the music started, waited for the cue for us to take our poses, and went down and posed. Just before we went to go into our second pose, the music got cut off. I stood up, and all three of us looked at Ricky Dick, and just as we were about to speak, he said “And that was entry number two, Three of a Kind.” And he started to read off our names.

I think the only good thing about our masquerade was when we got to the back of the events room and saw Brad Swaile. He asked us what happened, and told us that despite the goof up, he still thought that we did well. And applauded us for doing our walk-on anyway.

After the masquerade:

We went back to the green room and watched a couple of the performances. But then we left again and went up to our hotel room on the fifth floor. We needed to use our key cards to get onto our floor. We got out of our cosplays, and I went and had my shower. I needed to be clean! CLEAN! I loved the fact that I could be clean. And paint free. Next time, I’m making sure that I have a zentai suit.

After I had my shower, the other two had theirs. Good thing I had my shower first though, because after I had mine the shower was full of little black paint chips. We hung out in the room for a while, and DeadKoiBunny came up to visit and so did Marluxia. It was a lot of fun being able to hang out with them.

After Foreverflame fell asleep, Nekoyasha23, DeadKoiBunny, and I all went down to the dance. Before we even went in they went back up to the rooms to get rid of their cameras. While I waited for them down on the first floor, I saw CosplayCanada get carried out of the dance. He’d pinched a nerve in the back of his knee. Don’t worry! He’s okay!

When Nekoyasha23 and DeadKoiBunny got back after getting rid of their cameras, we went into the dance and of course, danced. After a while though, I took mine back up. Nekoyasha and I were there until about… 12pm, maybe a little afterward. We were tired, we had been up since 5:30 (okay, she woke up at 4am).

Sunday:

We woke up probably at about… 7, 7:30. Believe it or not, but we dressed normally when we went to go and have our breakfast. We just put on some clean clothes, and went down to have breakfast around 8.

Afterwards we went back up and changed into our cosplays. Foreverflame was Lea, Nekoyasha23 was Axel, and I was Roxas. I would have done Anti-Axel, but I didn’t want to paint my face two days in a row, and I didn’t have a wig for it. I will at some point though.

While I waited up on the walkway for my friends to come back since we had checked out and were taking the stuff out of the room, somebody needed to watch the glass door so that we could get the stuff out more easily, I ran into someone also wearing an Organization coat, carrying an Oblivion keyblade. After a short while, he and his sister came back out with cameras and asked me for pictures. Then pictures of the fellow cosplayer and I since we were both doing Organization.

After all of our stuff was finally loaded into Lea’s car, we were able to walk around. Not much really happened for us on Sunday. But we did go and watch the Evil Laughter Contest hosted by Brad Swaile. We laughed, and found some of the contestants kinda scary. nanakiff7 went to try, but couldn’t do it. Which is okay, I love her for having the bravery to go up there anyway.

After the contest we had our second photoshoot with LiquidCocaine-Photos. She was able to play around more with this shoot seeing as how we were a little more vibrant. Me especially since I actually had some colour this time. Her and her plants though. She had so much fun posing us with plants. It worked though!

I can’t wait to see the photos from the shoots we had with her!

Glad to hear you had a great time at the con! (Sucks for the masquerade though...not really fair...)

Thank you so much for the feature! O.O That's so sweet of you! I feel all kinds of fluffy inside, now...
