Pirate Ship Park Cosplay Day 2010

Location: Pirate Ship Park & Quinte Mall, Belleville, ON
Date/Time: Saturday, June 26, 2010 / 12:00-8:30 pm

To start off, it was a very interesting event. Allow me to illuminate.

At the Park:

Dave and I headed out around 11:30 to head to Nekoyasha23's house to pick her up, so that we could drive her over to the Pirate Ship Park, and save her some walking in the rain. We all had umbrellas so it wasn't too bad. Upon arriving there were four people waiting for us, Origo-Mali (as Shishido from Prince of Tennis), Kyle (as Gatenma? from Ranma 1/2), and two of his friends. As we stood in the rain we headed to the shelter of the pirate ship. Upon realizing that it wasn't working very well, we took cover under the ledge at the washrooms so that we could dry a bit. As I walked though I found myself slipping in my sandals. But slipping forwards in them. Quite painful.

We stayed there for a while waiting for more to show up. Eventually Foreverflame arrived and was Vexen from Kingdom Hearts (with goggles!). We waited awhile longer to see if more showed up, and while we waited a duck appeared and Vexen wanted to do some experiments with it. Zafie (dressed as Basil from Katekyo Hitman Reborn!) and Luna (as Luna from Sailor Moon) arrived shortly after I'd called my mom and asked her to come and drive some of us over to the mall, as we weren't all going to fit in a truck. I'd called her before Michelle arrived in her car, and even then we wouldn't have all fit.

My mom arrived a few minutes later after some more ducks had arrived and Vexen went chasing after one of them after receiving permission to perform experiments on one of them. As Vexen did that, Nekoyasha23 made up a sign saying "Cosplayers go to mall". Although no others arrived except for xx-Clouds-Over-Luna.

At the Mall:

Because we had all gone to the mall in separate vehicles, we arranged to meet in the food court as it was a place that we all knew. Upon getting there, we went over to a different part of the mall to take pictures. There were a lot of random shots, some planned, some not. Though because I kept hugging Foreverflame, and telling her that I was so happy that she was Vexen, she picked me up bridal style and carried me off down the hall a bit. Giving everyone in our group a bit of a panty shot (to my minor embarassment since it was a small amount).

After taking photos in the one area, we went to eat. Luna had sushi for her lunch, some had New York Fries, Dave went to A&W, while Nekoyasha23, Foreverflame, Origo-Mali and I all went to Bulk Barn and got different things that we wanted. I myself got Pocky, Hello Panda, and A&W Root Beer. Origo-Mali got herself some chocolate covered ginger (which I have decided is now one of my favourite chocolate covered delights). I stole some of Kyle's fries though before going to Bulk Barn. I love New York Fries ^^ And he was happy to share because he had gotten a large. xx-Clouds-Over-Luna, Chelsea, and Alex joined us as we had our lunch. Amazingly, xx-Clouds-Over-Luna hadn't had any sugar yet.

When we finished eating lunch we went to Chapters and headed straight to the manga section. Lucky for us, Chapters was having a buy 3 get the 4th free sale. It was quite the deal. While I bought myself Madness 2, Calling, D.Gray-Man 14&15, I also got Alice in the Country of Hearts 2 for Nekoyasha23 (as a very late birthday present). If I recall correctly Dave bought .hack//CELL, .hack/LINK, and Tsubasa Profiles, and as a treat for me he got me Vampire Knight 10, even though I told him that he didn't have to. We saved a fair bit with the sale, plus having my iRewards card. When I told Nekoyasha23 that if she wanted Alice in the Country of Hearts 2 I would buy it, she gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek.

Of course, when we left Chapters it was pouring rain. Lots of fun. To keep my books from being drenched before we got to Famous Players for the arcade, I put my Chapters bag in xx-Clouds-Over-Luna's bag and we rushed to the theatre before we got too soaked. As soon as we got to the theatre we headed right for the arcade, and Kyle bought $20 worth of tokens so that we could play DDR for a long while. While most of the attendees played I took photos of the goings on, while Ash, our host, filmed it. I only played once, and failed the second stage. I don't play enough to be any good, and I now realize that I should probably use a higher difficulty as the beginner just seems to go too slow. A few rounds of air hockey were played, and Dave played the claw machine. In one shot he got 3 plush at once. He got the salamander that he wanted, I got the yellow walrus, and Nicole was given the third, and we aren't sure what it is. He also played the claw machine for two of our friends and got them some plush as they wanted some, and he was happy to do it. Chelsea and Alex left early so that Alex could get to work.

Before leaving the arcade, we decided on where we were going to eat, and who was going with who to get to the restuarant. Dave, Origo-Mali, and I went with Foreverflame, Nekoyasha23 and xx-Clouds-Over-Luna went with Zafie and Luna, while Kyle drove himself and the two friends who came with him over.

Dinner:

The restaurant we decided on was the Canadian & Chinese Garden Buffet Restaurant. It was the only restaurant that we agreed on, and it was the most affordable one to go to. It was amazing how quickly they could seat us as we were a group of eleven. Almost immediately after we walked in we were seated.

Of course I sat next to Dave while we were there and we shared a couple of kisses and tried different foods that we hadn't had before. Even though I'd never had Mongolian Pork before, I took it and found it delicious. I held off on the fried squid to try for another time. But I did take a lot of dessert, and ate 3/4 of it. Took a little too much for my dessert. When I went to pay for my dinner and tea, I was behind Dave, I was willing to pay for myself, but he went and paid for me even though I told him that he didn't have to. What a sweetheart. But according to my mom "that's what boyfriend's do".

The last bit of the cosplay day I'll keep private, you don't need to know what we all did afterwards. (no, it's nothing like that, I just don't feel like describing the last place we went to as a group before dispanding...)
