Finally got to make this costume
This costume presented a bit of a challenge with making it. That challenge being that I had never made a ballgown before so this was something different. I also had to modify how the dress is put together to make it easier for me to wear.
I made the skirts first which are all one piece. All of the blue is a nice dress satin I bought 3 years ago for something else (and then used for this). I made the over skirt following a Quincinera dress pattern, and did the same with the white. The white skirts are leftover heavy dull satin from making Final Form Xemnas and other white fabric. I hand sewed the ribbon on, and then went over it with the machine. An elastic waisband was put in.
The top is the same satins and I made a custom pattern. And this time the ribbons were machine sewn on. The top does up with snap fasteners with buttons sewn over top of where the fasteners are.
The jacket is a custom pattern I made myself of the satin again. The collar has Solari in it to help it stand up Again the ribbon machine sewn on. To do the cuffs, I used heavy dull satin (I wanted something stiff), and machine sewed the ribbons on. The ruffles are custom done with extra flowy satin I had on hand that matched the blue and are pleated by hand. They're all sewn to the jacket.
The neck ruffle is the same satin as the ruffles on the cuffs and attach with velcro. The bow on the ruffle is ribbon I hand painted and hot glued a plastic jewel onto the bow.
The belt is left over heavy broadcloth from previous projects and I hand painted the stripes on. I also hand painted on the design at the front and it does up with 4 snap fasteners.
I ordered both wigs off of ebay. The blond one the bun is put together with just bobby pins.
